Sample Statistics questions

1. Find the range of: 15, 18, 12, 14, 8+

Answer: 10

Step 1: Identify the largest value (18) and the smallest value (8). Step 2: Range = largest - smallest = 18 - 8 = 10.

2. Find the mean of: 1, 12, 8, 10, 22+

Answer: 10.6

Step 1: Add all the values: 1 + 12 + 8 + 10 + 22 = 53. Step 2: Divide by how many values there are, 5: 53 / 5 = 10.6.

3. Find the range of: 42, 6, 31, 28, 30+

Answer: 36

Step 1: Identify the largest value (42) and the smallest value (6). Step 2: Range = largest - smallest = 42 - 6 = 36.

4. Find the range of: 9, 4, 34, 45, 19+

Answer: 41

Step 1: Identify the largest value (45) and the smallest value (4). Step 2: Range = largest - smallest = 45 - 4 = 41.

5. Find the median of: 20, 44, 19, 48, 6+

Answer: 20

Step 1: Sort the values from smallest to largest: 6, 19, 20, 44, 48. Step 2: With an odd count, the median is the middle value: 20.

6. Find the range of: 29, 32, 13, 45, 23+

Answer: 32

Step 1: Identify the largest value (45) and the smallest value (13). Step 2: Range = largest - smallest = 45 - 13 = 32.
